IMITATION

Imitation occurs when a musical idea is copied, either exactly, altered, or transposed, in another voice.

 


The excerpt below shows the first five notes of the melody to North Rim.

The five notes were then manipulated to create an interesting statement within the introduction to the composition. The second line is imitating the first line - see below.
